Comment on Saying the cesarean rate is too high is not (or shouldn’t be) a judgment of c-section moms by Sarah Musgrave

I know you and the others here are not judging c-girls. But as a c-girl myself, i'd like to challenge the thought that my daughter didn't have a 'birthday'. At 40 weeks +4, i woke up and she wasn't moving. To make a long story short, i had placental failure ( and likely had been failing slowly for a couple of weeks) and my daughter was on the brink. Despite the midwives hadn't caught it. The doctors hadn't caught it. But her mother did. Because i was her mother before she was even born, really. Before how she came to be in the world had been decided. If she hadn't come out via c she wouldn't have come out at all. Or not alive anyway.
I don't rue c-sections and imagine what was taken from me. I thank goodness medicine has evolved enough that most women go home from hospitals with babies, unlike communities where only natural childbirth is available.
As for Holly? On November 22, 2010 my body bore a child. With help, and maybe not through the canal intended, but she went from being inside me to breathing on her own outside my body. That day was her birthday, and i will celebrate it for the rest of my life.
